Top Ten Tuesday #3: Favorite Book Quotes

Top Ten Tuesday è una rubrica creata da The Broke and the Bookish nel 2010 e poi spostata su That Artsy Reader Girl nel 2018.

1.
“I’ve always found that the most beautiful people, truly beautiful inside and out, are the ones who are quietly unaware of their effect.” His eyes searched mine intently, and for a moment we stood there toe to toe. “The ones who throw their beauty around, waste what they have? Their beauty is only passing. It’s just a shell hiding nothing but shadows and emptiness.”
– Jennifer L. Armentrout, Obsidian
2.
“People aren’t born good or bad. Maybe they’re born with tendencies either way, but its the way you live your life that matters.”
– Cassandra Clare, City of Glass
3.
It was the way she felt when she looked at the stars
– Maggie Stiefvater, The Raven Boys
4.
“One must always be careful of books,” said Tessa, “and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.”
– Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Angel
5.
Someone needs to tell those tales. When the battles are fought and won and lost, when the pirates find their treasures and the dragons eat their foes for breakfast with a nice cup of Lapsang souchong, someone needs to tell their bits of overlapping narrative. There’s magic in that. It’s in the listener, and for each and every ear it will be different, and it will affect them in ways they can never predict. From the mundane to the profound. You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone’s soul, becomes their blood and self and purpose. That tale will move them and drive them and who knows what they might do because of it, because of your words. That is your role, your gift. Your sister may be able to see the future, but you yourself can shape it, boy. Do not forget that… there are many kinds of magic, after all.
– Erin Morgenstern, The Night Circus
6.
I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living.
– Dr. Seuss
7.
“I no longer feel allegiance to these monsters called human beings, despise being one myself. I think that Peeta was onto something about us destroying one another and letting some decent species take over. Because something is significantly wrong with a creature that sacrifices its children’s lives to settle its differences. You can spin it any way you like. Snow thought the Hunger Games were an efficient means of control. Coin thought the parachutes would expedite the war. But in the end, who does it benefit? No one. The truth is, it benefits no one to live in a world where these things happen.”
– Susanne Collins, Mockingjay
8.
Even when we’re apart tomorrow, I’ll be with you every step of the way. And every step after—wherever that may be.
– Sarah J. Maas, Queen of Shadows
9.
“Words, I think, are such unpredictable creatures.
No gun, no sword, no army or king will ever be more powerful than a sentence. Swords may cut and kill, but words will stab and stay, burying themselves in our bones to become corpses we carry into the future, all the time digging and failing to rip their skeletons from our flesh.”
– Tahereh Mafi, Ignite Me
10.
Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.
– George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones

  1. Per quanto con la Clare oscillo tra sentimenti di amore e odio, non posso che darle atto del fatto che le prime due serie sugli Shadowhunter fossero fantastiche! Ecco, per il resto penso che si sarebbe dovuta fermare lì 😛
